Most MS Access projects use an MDB & DAO for the data source.
Many different data sources can be used by MS Access
through ODBC: SQL Server (2000 or 2005), Excel, XML, FoxPro.
In addition, other applications have a database that can be tapped using
special utilities, i.e. Peachtree.
Most MS Access projects use Access Reports to output information.
Excel & MS Word can also be
automated to handle reporting; Excel cells or MS Word bookmarks work well as output target.
